These are paintings of Skaket Beach in Orleans, MA. It is a place I have visited every summer of my adult life. I return for the natural beauty and magical quality of this special place. The small paintings came from a question I asked myself while making the larger ones, “How could I reduce the image to a fraction of its size and still retain its essence?” In making the smaller work I began to respond to the freedom and intimacy the smaller size required. To me, the small work better conveyed the larger scope of this magnificent landscape.
